
As locomotivas "Diesel-Eléctricas" da série 1300, foram adquiridas pela CP em 1952. A gazeta dos caminhos de ferro, relatava desta forma, a chegada de 2 das 12 locomotivas, em Outubro desse ano:

These had been out of service for some years by this point. 12 of these centre cabbed locos were delivered to Portugal in 1952. Built by the Whitcomb Locomotive Co. in Illinois, USA. They were used for both freight and passenger work."
